After being released from jail, Brian Andry killed a 60 year old woman during a carjacking. "NOPD is searching for Bryan Andry, 46, in connection with the fatal stabbing of Portia Pollock.
He is accused of stealing her car after killing her in front of her home.
WDSU Investigates confirmed that Andry was out on bond on similar charges when he allegedly killed Pollack.
Andry's bond was reduced a few months ago in connection with a carjacking in the French Quarter back in 2020.
The reduced bond allowed him to leave jail.
Andry was in jail four months ago. Court records show he was arrested in June of last year for a carjacking in the 1900 block of Frenchman Street, just over a mile from where Pollack was killed.
"Andry's bond was reduced a few months ago in connection with a carjacking in the French Quarter back in 2020.
The reduced bond allowed him to leave jail.
His bond was set at $250,000 by former Judge Franz Zibilich, and Andry remained jailed.
Newly-elected Judge Angel Harris, who defeated Ziblich in a November election, reduced Andry's bond in February to $100,000.
Andry was then able to post bond and leave jail.
Andry was placed on an ankle monitor, which the judge claims was working.Police sources confirm to WDSU that Andry's ankle monitor is not working.
Andry is no stranger to the NOPD or the criminal justice system.
WDSU Investigates took a look at his arrest history, which dates back to 1991."www.wdsu.com/article/man-sought-in-seventh-ward-fatal-carjacking-made-bond-on-similar-charges-had-broken-ankle-monitor/36688318The New Orleans city council requested Judge Angel Harris appear in front of the city council for questioning over this case. She refused. Even before this case, I have often felt judges generally have an unhealthy sense of entitlement. They can do whatever they want. And feel accountable to no one. "I can do whatever I want. And I owe nobody any explanation". What do you think?

It means not imprisoning criminals for minor offenses (marijuana possession), not trying juvenile offenders as adults, giving criminals second and third chances, and rehabilitation. As opposed to being tough on crime and throwing everybody in jail.

the soft on crime approach has not worked out too well this past year. At least not well for the law abiding victims of criminals. its ideological and it’s becoming a culture of excusing crime. Liberals have always prided themselves as “looking out for the little guy”. Somewhere along the line, the criminals became the little guy and the people they want to champion for instead of the victims. It’s warped and has major consequences for the safety of the public and it’s what we talked about with these progressive DA’s and mayors who willfully unleash more crime on our cities

They knocked it down to a misdemeanor and shoplifters are emboldened and feel they have nothing to lose. Stores are closing up because of it. We’ve heard a few politicians talk about how it’s not their fault and they’re just trying to feed their families. Shoplifters are just walking into Walmart and filling bags with items and walking right out and they are going out and selling these items for profit. It is shocking to me how people think it’s ok for people to do that and once again it’s a symptom of liberals being apologists for crime. I predict a growing wave of flash mobs just cleaning stores out and nobody lifting a finger to try to stop them

Often times these pro crime policies spread to other cities. This pro crime ideology is spreading and will continue to spread in my opinion. We are at a point in history where ideology trumps all reason and common decency

Already in my city, the same people who voted for the progressive DA, are now complaining about the rising crime, and falling numbers of the police force. A city falling into chaos can't last forever.

I just can't understand what goes through people's minds that think this way.

And the leftist propaganda machine does just that --- sells them a dump truck full of bullsh*t. And they buy it hook, line, and sinker.
