Police and military in monster movies thinking machine guns and pistols will be effective against a monster bigger than a building. What really doesn't make sense is people watching movies where police and the military try to kill giant monsters with small arms. I think they are silly. But if you're in to that genre, wouldn't it be boring if they resorted to more effective nuclear missiles first? That would make for very short monster movies.

People like watching monster movies for the special effects and action. But they are disappointed when the police and military continually use pistols and machine guns against the super huge monster. People like imagination and creativity. It takes somebody with imagination and creativity to not use the "pistol and machine gun cliche" in a monster movie. Nope. It doesn't automatically mean a super short monster movie. Often the victims of a monster movie don't have access to missiles. But just because they have pistols and machine guns, they don't have to continue to use them. They need to find a more resourceful or imaginative way of dealing with the threat.

Who doesn't know that? You don't have to blind me with science. If someone is wearing eyeglasses all the time, that's because they're nearsighted. I should know, because I'm nearsighted. That means I don't need glasses to see close up. So if someone is far-sighted, they only need glasses to read or see up close, not far away. Why would a far-sighted person be wearing glasses in public where they're not reading or looking at anything up close? As for the phones, it's irrelevant what the buttons and hangers were for. The point is, if someone obviously hangs up on you, banging on the buttons or hanger wouldn't force them to come back on the line. It's not like the person got cut off in mid-sentence or the line dropped. Not necessarily. I wear glasses all the time and I am not nearsighted. I wear bifocals. They help people see both near and far. Who doesn't know that? You, apparently. As for the phones, as I said, it depends on how old the movie is you are watching as to whether it makes sense or not. I made no assumption as to whether the person hung up or got cut off. What makes sense sometimes depends on your age and what you experienced growing up. Regardless, why would someone be wearing glasses outside in public (not reading anything), and then whip them off supposedly to get a 'better look' at something at a distance? That doesn't make any sense, and I've only see that happen in the movies.

That would kill civilians too, not to mention destroy the planet potentially.

I agree, monster movies are often silly and unrealistic. But that is another complaint of monster movie enthusiasts. The best monster movies are realistic and logical (except for the monster).

Mostly SciFi movies where they see something in the sky. It's a very common thing I've seen in movies. I don't know how you've never seen it. I guess you don't watch many movies -- especially the old ones. They are usually one of the public looking at something like a spaceship or something, and the camera will focus on one person wearing glasses. It's obvious he didn't just put them on to read. Then he whips them off to 'see better'. He's already wearing glasses to 'see better'. Why whip them off?

I didn't know I was being timed. I hope you weren't up all night checking your phone. Okay, go ahead and post another witty response and "Ha ha ha". I'll be sure to answer right away. Don't go away. Wait right here.
